We are seeking a highly organized, customer-focused Dispatcher to coordinate daily transportation operations while ensuring exceptional service to our customers and operational support for our drivers. This position is responsible for scheduling and dispatching loads, communicating with operations, sales, management, customers, and drivers through verbal, written, and electronic communication.

The Dispatcher serves as the communication hub between drivers, operations, maintenance, and customers to ensure efficient route execution, regulatory compliance, and outstanding customer service. In addition to dispatching responsibilities, this role assists with fleet asset management, driver training, vendor coordination for equipment repairs, and may occasionally provide route coverage as a CDL driver when operational needs require.

• Schedule and dispatch drivers, vehicles, and equipment to meet customer service and operational requirements.
• Build and optimize daily routes to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Monitor route progress and make adjustments based on traffic, weather, equipment availability, or customer needs.
• Prioritize dispatch requests according to urgency and operational priorities.
• Maintain constant communication with drivers throughout the workday.
• Coordinate emergency route changes and equipment replacements as needed.
• Communicate effectively with Operations, Sales, Management, Maintenance, and Customers.

• Provide day-to-day operational support for assigned drivers.
• Assist with onboarding and training of new drivers.
• Coach drivers on company policies, customer service expectations, safety procedures, and route efficiency.
• Monitor driver performance and communicate opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure drivers maintain compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.
• Serve as a backup CDL driver when operational needs require.

• Track equipment availability and utilization.
• Coordinate preventative maintenance scheduling.
• Communicate with outside repair vendors regarding equipment status, repairs, and timelines.
• Monitor equipment downtime and work with maintenance to minimize service interruptions.
• Assist with fleet asset tracking and inventory.

• Receive calls and document important operational information.
• Enter dispatch information into transportation management systems.
• Maintain accurate dispatch logs, driver records, and operational reports.
• Monitor electronic logging devices (ELDs) and driver Hours of Service compliance.
• Prepare reports regarding route performance, productivity, and operational metrics.
• Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities and customer communications.

• Respond promptly to customer requests and service issues.
• Communicate service updates, delays, and schedule changes professionally.
• Resolve operational issues while maintaining excellent customer relationships.
• Coordinate with Sales and Operations to meet customer expectations.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years of dispatch, transportation, logistics, or operations experience preferred.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and transportation management software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.

• Transportation or trucking industry experience.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service requirements.
• Experience using dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and ELD platforms.
• Experience supervising or training drivers.
• Class A CDL (preferred but not required).
• Experience in fleet asset management or equipment maintenance coordination.

• Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
• Frequent use of computers, phones, and communication equipment.
• Ability to occasionally visit maintenance facilities and fleet yards.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work flexible hours when operational needs require.
