Our inpatient programs deliver transitional medical care and rehabilitation, helping children safely move from acute care settings to home. What You’ll Do
  • The Transportation Driver responsibly operates RSC vehicles to safely transport patients, staff, and other authorized individuals to and from designated locations.
  • Provides daily shuttle services, transports supplies, and completes pick-up and delivery of medications and medical instruments between RSC and Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC).
  • Assists with loading and unloading patients, equipment, and supplies as needed, while ensuring passenger safety and comfort.
  • Adheres to all local traffic laws, organizational policies, and safe driving practices.
What You’ll Need
  • Minimum Education:

    High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Minimum Experience:

    2 years driving experience (Required)
  • Required Skills/Knowledge:
    Ability to read and utilize maps to determine the shortest route to destinations.
  • Required Skills/Knowledge:
    Ability to operate all hospital vehicles in a safe, responsible and efficient manner.
  • Required Skills/Knowledge:
    Ability to communicate with the public, staff, and other drivers.
  • Valid Driver License or CDL License class C or higher with a P endorsement.
  • CPR certified or ability to obtain within 6-month period (180 Days).
  • Must provide copy of Driving Record annually.
  • Must be able to obtain D.O.T. Medical Examiners
Functional Accountabilities
  • Familiar with the hospital and departmental safety plan and execute all job responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Familiar with the hospital performance improvement concepts and practices and participate in performance improvement activities as needed.
  • Promotes the “RELATE” (Reassure, Explain, Listen, Answer, Take Action, Express, Appreciation) culture and a culture of Family/Patient-Center Care.
  • Responsible for safely operating all RSC vehicles.
  • Operates RSC vehicles to transport patients, staff, or other individuals on authorized trips.
  • Transports supplies, runs daily shuttle service, makes pick up and/or drop-offs of medication and/or instruments to and from CNMC.
  • Ensures all patients and passengers are properly secured in vehicle prior to proceeding on trips.
  • Loading and unloading patients, equipment and supplies as required.
  • Complies with local traffic regulations.
  • Reports delays, accidents, and/or any unusual occurrences in accordance with established hospital procedures.
  • Must not have any moving violations on license.
  • Performs daily pre-trip inspections on vehicles and reports any maintenance deficiencies.
  • Inspections include checking tires, horn, windshield wipers, windows, etc.
  • Maintains adequate gas level (no lower than ½ tank).
  • Maintains oil, coolant, transmission and brake fluid levels to ensure safe operation of vehicle.
  • Checks charge on fire extinguishers periodically and checks contents of first aid kits for completeness.
  • Keeps interior and exterior of vehicle clean and maintains vehicle mileage logs.
  • Has ability to operate 2-Way radio/cellular telephone.
  • Must always wear seatbelts when operating RSC Vehicles.
  • Must be able to read maps and find most timely route to destination.
  • Must be able to work independently at times and be available during adverse weather and emergency conditions to work.
