Position Summary

The Material Handler loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near the plant, yard, or work site, performing clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, and delivering a variety of materials, equipment, and supplies.

Position Responsibilities
  • Count, weigh, or measure incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information and variety against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records; examine incoming shipments for damage or shortages and correspond with the shipper to rectify; complete paperwork or forms required for documentation.
  • Determine the method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates; prepare materials for shipping by weighing, packaging, and stamping; prepare necessary shipping forms such as bills of lading.
  • Provide on‑the‑job training to lower‑level employees and resolve problems utilizing knowledge of shipping/receiving/materials handling.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.
  • Participate in routing, counting, and inspecting items while loading and unloading trucks; deliver and return items.
  • Transport high‑technology, high‑dollar‑cost equipment and supplies to customers; secure cargo properly and safely.
  • Fill orders and issue materials and supplies per requests.
  • Participate in ordering or purchasing standard stock items within established procedures and limits.
Required Qualifications
  • One year of shipping/receiving experience or an equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education.
  • Technical competence (understanding of software, hardware, networks, etc.).
  • At least two years of experience working in a fabrication shop.
  • Fluency in English with strong speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work‑authorized visa.
  • Successful candidate must satisfactorily complete a pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
