Salary Range: $18.00 To $20.00 Hourly
TFG is seeking a motivated Shop and Warehouse Technician to join our team in Houston, TX. This entry‑level position offers full training and a hands‑on opportunity to build a skilled trade career in the food service equipment industry.
As a Shop and Warehouse Technician, you’ll assist with the equipment preparation and assembly of commercial food service equipment in our Houston, TX facility. You’ll also help with inventory management, shipping and receiving, and general warehouse operations. This role is ideal for someone mechanically inclined, dependable, organized, and eager to learn and grow within a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform in-shop repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance on commercial food service equipment.
- Prepare equipment for customer delivery, installation, and service projects.
- Assemble, install, fabricate, and connect system components such as compressors, motors, control panels, gauges, valves, and tubing.
- Conduct system tests to ensure functionality, identify issues, and make necessary repairs.
- Receive, inspect, and organize incoming parts, equipment, and warehouse inventory.
- Pull, stage, package, and prepare parts and equipment for shipment or technician use.
- Maintain accurate inventory counts and assist with cycle counts and stock organization.
- Operate warehouse equipment and tools safely and responsibly, following all company policies.
- Keep the shop and warehouse clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and moving equipment within the warehouse and shop environment.
- Work closely with service, parts, and operations teams to support daily business needs.
- Participate in ongoing technical training and professional development opportunities.
- Mechanical aptitude or interest in electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, or general repair work.
- Strong attention to detail, dependability, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn inventory and warehouse systems.
- Physical ability to stand, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
This position requires the ability to perform essential physical job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
- Lift and carry equipment or materials weighing up to 60 pounds
- Push or maneuver equipment weighing up to 900 pounds using wheels or dollies
- Move equipment weighing up to 500 pounds from a dolly to a counter top or work surface
- Climb ladders while carrying tools and equipment
- Kneel, crouch, bend, or work from the floor for extended periods of time
- Safely operate hand and power tools
- Work in a variety of environments, including kitchens, warehouses, and outdoor conditions, with exposure to heat, cold, noise, and mechanical equipment
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in warehouse, shipping and receiving, inventory management, equipment repair, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, or mechanical work.
- EPA Certification (training and certification may be provided as part of career development).
