SUMMARY:
The GSRP Assistant/Associate teacher is responsible for working as a team member in providing quality pre-school education for students by providing additional support to the teacher. The GSRP Assistant/Associate teacher is also responsible for non-instructional and concept/skill reinforcement tasks.

- Follows Great Start Readiness Program Implementation Manual and supporting documents as defined by MDE.
- Follows written IEP(s) and support plans, if applicable.
- Collects and documents data regarding the student(s).
- Supervise students in classrooms, hallway, cafeterias, and/or playgrounds.
- Supervises the classroom when the Lead Teacher is out of the room and/or assumes Lead Teacher role when the Lead Teacher is absent.
- Assists with loading and unloading of children transported to and from the program.
- When needed, assist with the medical needs of students.
- Observe students' performance and record relevant data to assess progress.
- Maintains accurate and complete student records.
- Maintains confidentiality of families and workplace.
- Works closely with building principal, support staff, teachers, volunteers and students.
- Participates in home visits and parent-teacher conferences.
- Participate in trainings and ongoing professional development.
- Adheres to district and school rules and procedures.
- Conducts behavior to demonstrate collegiality and professionalism.
- Maintains regular in-person attendance.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- None.
- An Associates Degree (AA) in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or the equivalent; OR
- A valid Center-Based Preschool (CDA) credential (if credential before 2011); OR
- An existing 120 Hour approval letter.
- Work experience in a preschool setting is required.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, students, staff, and the general public consistent with the duties of this position.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as grants, journal articles, governmental forms and handbooks and is able to follow instructions.
- Ability to express self clearly; both orally and in writing.
- Excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure consistent with the duties of this position.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations consistent with the duties of this position.
- Ability to solve complex problems and deal with variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form consistent with the duties of this position.
- Exhibit high level of professionalism with the ability to handle confidential information, use good judgment, plan and handle complex projects, and maintain a flexible attitude.
