Reports To: Building Principal or Assistant Principal
Location: Voyager Elementary School
Duration: Ten Months;
August – June
FLSA Status: Exempt
FTE: 1.0

- Provide academic Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) for At Risk students, including research‑based instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics;
- Provide professional development and instructional coaching for classroom teachers in research‑based instructional practices;
- Comprehend and impart the content of applicable grade level and subject curriculum;
- Communicate with children and adults in a manner that is clear and interactive;
- Speak, hear, see and write clearly, with or without assistive devices;
- Direct students’ activities and correct student behavior where necessary;
- Communicate with parents through telephone and email;
- Perform reporting tasks as required, including the production of lesson plans and the issuance of student grade and progress reports;
- Walk/stand for the full scheduled period, with minimal sitting options; teachers may be seated during preparations and lunch periods;
- Adhere to all Board and District policies;
- Responsibilities in compliance with the HEA Collective Bargaining Agreement;
- Regular in‑person attendance.
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate for elementary (K‑5 All Subjects; K‑8 Self‑Contained All Subjects). Additional certification in Reading (RT) preferred;
- 2‑3 years of previous teaching experience;
- Must meet appropriate placement guidelines in the area of responsibility.
- Demonstrates leadership in communicating a clear vision and working cooperatively with others to attain that vision;
- Demonstrates a willingness to take professional risks to improve opportunities for students;
- Demonstrates a willingness to advance learning through professional development opportunities.
- Ability to explain and demonstrate appropriate teaching techniques;
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals and professional journals;
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of educators, students, and the general public;
- Ability to write lesson plans, business correspondence, and other related communication;
- Ability to express oneself clearly, both orally and in writing;
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret information.
- Ability to integrate technology into everyday workflow;
- Ability to utilize District technology and maintain proficiency as required;
- Ability to use computer technology for research, data management, communications, and instruction;
- Ability to use a personal computer (PC) or MAC in a networked environment to access the Internet and other electronic communications mechanisms;
- Knowledge of productivity applications such as Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software).
- Ability to apply the concepts of basic math, algebra, and geometry consistent with the duties of this position.
- Highly proficient in reasoning, problem‑solving, organizational dynamics, and emotional intelligence;
- Ability to solve practical problems and handle situations where limited standardization exists;
- Exhibit high professionalism with the ability to handle confidential information, use good judgment, plan, and manage complex projects;
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form;
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to build rapport with others and serve diverse publics;
- Ability to take initiative, work well as a collaborative team member, and exhibit strong communication skills;
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with other departments, agencies, and individuals.
