Summary/objective

Assembles units or support structures and installs components, units, etc. for ultrasonic punching/welding machines

Essential functions & competencies

  • Mechanical assembly of components and assemblies of ultrasonic punching/welding machines
  • Machining of parts using mills, lathe, saw, welders, etc.
  • Pneumatic plumbing to print
  • Adjust feed units, punches and sliders
  • Welding feasibility and testing
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and pneumatics
  • Operate machines, align, fit and assemble component parts
  • Test performance of assembly unit using test instruments
  • Repair, rework and calibrate assemblies to meet operational specifications and tolerances
  • Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
  • Inspect parts/machines for surface defects, analyze and record test results where applicable and prepare written documentation.
  • Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams and technical orders to determine method and sequence of assembly
  • 20- 40% Travel to customer facilities required to address machine concerns/repairs/start up.
  • Must be able to work with a team and in high stress environments
Work environment

The employee must be able to function independently as well as in a team in an industrial environment, which are concerned with heavy machinery and specialized equipment. The employee may encounter high stress environments that require quick thinking, clear communication, and teamwork. The work environment is labor-intensive and often requires working with rough and heavy materials.

Physical demands

The employee is regularly required to sit; grab or reach, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand and/or walk. The employee is occasionally required to twist, bend, independently lay on floor to repair machines. The employee must be able to navigate an industrial environment with equipment that is mobile and regularly relocated. The employee must be able to inspect machinery and equipment visually and/or physically.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to work in high stress situations.

Travel required

The employee must be able to travel locally and occasionally travel internationally (including but not limited to Germany and Mexico).

Required education and experience
  • 2-5 years building machines in an automotive or similar environment
  • Proven experience in safety operating various machining tools
Preferred education and experience
  • Ability to read blue prints
  • Technical school certification in robotics, automation, mechatronics, or related field
Additional eligibility requirements

Must be flexible and able to move between work environments with little notice. Must be able to think logically and quickly while maintaining a calm demeanor.

Work authorization/security clearance requirements

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
