This role is responsible for independently displaying and stocking products, ensuring the store’s financial best interest, meeting guest experience guidelines, and complying with safety and food safety policies.
Responsibilities- Process a wide range of financial transactions—cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, bottle refunds, voids, and coupons—in line with company policy.
- Assist with receiving, unloading, and stocking products throughout the store.
- Operate the cash register, perform suggestive selling, enroll guests in the loyalty program, and maintain a clean and neat service area.
- Ensure proper product identification and PLU usage; report any pricing or signage errors.
- Maintain knowledge of current store programs and product locations (e.g., One More Item, flight plan execution).
- Communicate company programs, in‑store specials, and coupons to customers, modeling high standards of service.
- Comply with company policies regarding security, cash handling, product handling, alcohol and tobacco sales, and safety and sanitation procedures.
- Assist with stocking items on the sales floor, cooler, and back room, and maintain a clean and well‑stocked department and outside grounds.
- Follow PPE, safety guidelines, food safety, cleaning expectations, and guest experience guidelines.
- May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.
- High school diploma or GED (preferred).
- At least one year of prior retail or related experience (preferred).
- Good verbal communication skills and the ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.
- Strong customer service and organizational skills with a detail‑oriented mindset.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
The role requires frequent lifting or moving of up to 30 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds, and standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and turning for extended periods. Work is performed in a typical retail environment with varied temperatures and occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
