Water & Wastewater Aftermarket & Plant Solutions Specialist (MRO Sales Representative)

Hamlett Environmental Technologies, a Ferguson Company, is now seeking a Water & Wastewater Aftermarket & Plant Solutions Specialist to support our customers and principal manufacturers in Michigan. This sales role includes fuel card, auto allowance, travel and expense card, company cell phone and laptop.

Once established, the position is remote within territory and requires about 50% travel within Michigan and additional travel as needed (e.g., factory visits, industry events). An initial training period will require regular weekly time at the Howell, MI office; the length of training will vary with experience and qualification.

Responsibilities
  • Report to Aftermarket & Plant Solutions Manager.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with principal manufacturers, engineers, contractors, and end‑users within the defined territory, ensuring customer satisfaction from project inception to installation and beyond.
  • Perform duties including problem analysis, product application assessment, product selection, assistance in design/application development, specification recommendations, estimating, scope development, bidding to plant/end‑user customers, and startup/commissioning overview.
  • Analyze competition in territory, devise sales strategy, assist in annual business planning, and communicate strategy to management.
  • Strategize opportunities to optimize buy‑resale when appropriate for the customer and principal manufacturer, balancing risk and reward.
  • Primary territory focus is the state of Michigan.
  • Continuously improve sales skills and product knowledge to promote a professional image and mentor direct reports.
  • Forge strategic partnerships with engineers, owners, contractors, and other key stakeholders to improve market positioning.
  • Identify future capital improvement and engineered sales opportunities, and communicate them to appropriate departments for follow‑up and development.
  • Represent Ferguson Process Solutions at industry events and organizations.
  • Identify opportunities to present additional Ferguson offerings (e.g., Geo Storm, PVF, Fire Fab) within the primary Process Solutions solution.
  • Travel with principal manufacturer partners to identify opportunities and provide technical solutions.
  • Build strong relationships with plant operators, maintenance personnel, and utility leadership.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of water and wastewater industry related experience, with 5+ years of technical sales experience; project management experience is a plus.
  • Wastewater license(s) or drinking water license(s) preferred.
  • Results oriented, self‑motivated, able to complete tasks timely, build relationships, and enjoy a team environment.
  • Strong technical background and experience in water and wastewater.
  • BS/AS degree, technical training, industry certifications, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience with pumps, pumping systems, and related mechanical equipment preferred.
  • Committee and board member roles with industry associations is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Problem solving, leadership, and listening skills.
  • General digital literacy.
  • Self‑motivator, able to multi‑task and learn quickly.
Compensation and Benefits

Annual bonus eligible. The estimated total compensation range is $98,800 – $158,100 annually.

Pay Range: $8,233.34 – $13,175.00 monthly (salaried role) or hourly for all other roles.
