Location: Howell, MI -- Full-Time, In Office
Reports To: Inventory & Strategic Planning Manager

About the RoleThe Logistics Specialist is responsible for coordinating, executing, and optimizing all inbound and outbound freight across multiple warehouse locations. This role centralizes logistics activities currently handled by sales, warehouse management, and administrative staff, while ensuring freight compliance, cost control, and on-time delivery performance.
Initially, the role focuses on execution and stabilization. Over time, it will evolve into freight consolidation, carrier strategy, and 3PL sourcing to support continued company growth.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate inbound truckload shipments from primary and secondary vendors
- Communicate with carriers and brokers regarding capacity, scheduling, and delivery requirements
- Ensure all carrier pickup requirements are followed
- Maintain accurate delivery expectations and proactively communicate changes
- Track inbound shipments and resolve late or unannounced arrivals
- Schedule parcel, LTL, and FTL shipments from multiple warehouse locations
- Select appropriate carriers and service levels based on cost, timing, and customer requirements
- Generate and verify shipping documents (BOLs, packing slips, labels)
- Manage freight claims and carrier follow-up in coordination with warehouse leadership
- Execute shipments using customer-provided carrier accounts (Fed Ex, C.H. Robinson, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with customer-specific rules, labeling, and billing requirements
- Optimize shipments through consolidation and service-level selection
- Track shipments, manage exceptions, and obtain proof of delivery
- Maintain accurate shipment records in Ariba, Monday's, and internal trackers
- Validate freight class, NMFC codes, weights, and dimensions
- Prevent reclassifications, chargebacks, and billing discrepancies
- Monitor freight spend trends and identify optimization opportunities
- Maintain Truckload Tracker and shipment logs
- Archive PODs and delivery confirmations
- Provide logistics performance data to management as requested
- Consolidate carrier and broker relationships
- Assist with 3PL evaluation and sourcing
- Support multi-warehouse freight strategy
- Help develop SOPs and standard workflows
- Accurate, efficient and proactive control of the shipping process.

The Logistics Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring products move accurately, efficiently, and on time between vendors, warehouses, and customers. This position helps create visibility and control across the shipping process while reducing freight costs, preventing delays, and minimizing service issues.
By coordinating inbound and outbound logistics, managing carrier relationships, and proactively resolving shipment problems, this role directly impacts customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and profitability. The Logistics Specialist also helps support future company growth by improving freight processes, increasing scalability across multiple warehouse locations, and building a more strategic transportation network.

Qualifications Education, Skills & Abilities- 2--5 years of logistics, transportation, or supply chain experience
- Hands-on experience with LTL, FTL, and parcel shipping
- Strong understanding of freight documentation and compliance
- Comfortable working with carriers, brokers, and warehouse teams
- High attention to detail and strong follow-up skills
- Experience with customer-owned freight accounts
- Familiarity with freight portals (e.g., Navisphere)
