Land Use Officer - Howell Township

Is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Land Use Officer to assist with the administration and enforcement of the Township’s zoning, land use, and code regulations. Under general supervision, the Land Use Officer will review zoning and land use applications, conduct inspections, investigate violations, interpret applicable ordinances, and work with applicants, property owners, professionals, and Township staff to ensure compliance with State, County, and local regulations.

The position will also assist with Planning and Zoning Board matters, prepare notices and reports, research property and zoning history, and handle complex zoning and enforcement matters. The successful candidate must be able to interpret and analyze the Township’s zoning ordinance, review applications for compliance, and prepare clear and accurate reports, correspondence, and enforcement documentation. Qualified candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the inspection and enforcement of zoning and/or building construction laws and regulations and possess a valid Zoning Official Certificate.

Experience with SDL is preferred. This is a full-time 35 hour exempt position, Monday through Friday, with a comprehensive medical benefits package. Salary is DOQ with a salary range of $83,001–$112,051. The position is open until filled. EOE.
