We are partnering on a confidential search for an innovative Flavor Scientist to join a rapidly growing nutraceutical product development and manufacturing organization supporting leading wellness and supplement brands across North America.
This is a highly visible R&D opportunity for someone passionate about flavor chemistry, sensory science, and creating differentiated nutritional products that consumers actually enjoy using.
The Opportunity:
You will lead flavor development and taste optimization initiatives across a wide range of nutraceutical delivery systems including powders, chewables, tablets, and encapsulated products. This role sits at the intersection of flavor innovation, formulation science, sensory evaluation, and commercialization.
The ideal candidate brings both technical depth and creative problem-solving — someone who understands how to overcome bitterness, off-notes, and challenging active ingredients while maintaining clean-label, scalable, and consumer-friendly formulations.
What You’ll Own:
• Develop and optimize custom flavor systems for nutraceutical and dietary supplement products
• Lead taste-masking strategies for vitamins, minerals, botanicals, herbs, and specialty actives
• Conduct sensory evaluations, stability testing, and application development within dry-blend systems
• Partner cross-functionally with formulation, manufacturing, QA, and commercial teams from concept through commercialization
• Evaluate flavor technologies, sweetener systems, and emerging ingredient trends to drive innovation
• Support customer-facing projects, prototypes, and technical recommendations
Ideal Background:
• 5+ years of experience in flavor chemistry, flavor applications, formulation science, or sensory development
• Experience with in nutraceuticals, dietary supplements, functional foods, beverage powders, or related categories
• Strong understanding of taste modulation, sweetness optimization, and sensory balancing
• Experience working with powders, tablets, chewables, or encapsulated systems strongly preferred
• Knowledge of cGMP, FDA, DSHEA, and ingredient compliance standards
Highly Preferred:
• Flavor house or flavor applications experience
• Taste-masking expertise within supplement systems
• Experience scaling products from benchtop through production
• Certified Flavor Chemist (or progress toward certification)
