Job Description
Ferguson is seeking a Waterworks Municipal Outside Sales Representative to fill an immediate need with growing market opportunities. This field-based sales role supports municipalities and utilities in New Jersey. The position offers a fuel card, auto allowance, travel and expense card, company cell phone and laptop.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and an assigned customer base, while working with other branch associates to ensure happiness with products and services from order to delivery and beyond.
- Identify and actively pursue new business opportunities to expand the current customer base by working with management in developing sales strategies and new account targeting.
- Perform product quotation, order processing and problem resolution.
- Analyze competition in the territory, devise sales strategy and communicate strategy to management.
- Continually improve sales skills and product knowledge to promote a professional image in the field.
- Document all sales activity in the internal Customer Relationship Management tool (Salesforce) for ongoing evaluation of the new business pipeline and measurement of sales closure results.
- 2+ years of industry‑related sales experience is preferred.
- Results‑oriented, self‑motivated, and able to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Strong technical background and experience in water, wastewater or stormwater industry preferred.
- Excellent communication, time‑management and organizational skills.
- Problem‑solving, leadership and listening skills.
- General digital literacy.
- Self‑motivator, ability to multi‑task and learn quickly.
This is a base plus commission eligible role with no cap on commission. Estimated total compensation range is $50,000 – $100,000 plus. Ferguson complies with all wage regulations. The starting wage may be higher in certain locations based on local or state wage requirements.
