- Maintain 2nd process certification of GMAW (AWS/NAVSEA), GTAW (ASME/AWS/NAVSEA), and SMAW (ASME/AWS/NAVSEA) in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
- SAW weld certification is mandatory
- Create quality welds according to blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
- Responsible for acceptable GMAW, FCAW, GTAW & SAW welding processes and knowledge of operating welding machines such as welding tractors and bugs.
- Grind and inspect their own welds for accuracy before quality is called for certified inspections.
- Prepare products to be welded accordingly by grinding, drilling, and prepping steel.
- Carbon Air Arc gouging is required.
- Stamp all welds with certified assigned welder stamp
- Change welding wire as necessary and properly store wire until use
- Change and maintain gas needed for welding
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
- Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
- Maintain and repair all equipment and use it with care
- Shop personnel shall clock into labor steps in accordance with Global Shop training for traceability on completion of labor steps
- Must keep welder certs active
- GMAW/FCAW 6G Pipe requires GMAW-SC open root with FCAW fill and cap
- NAVSEA qualified welder requires classroom training/pass exam. Must pass annual vision test meeting Jaeger Level II or better near vision acuity) Level II for AWS, ASME, Level 1 for NAVSEA)
