Childcare Site Administrator (Lead Activity Leader)

Part‑time, Non‑Exempt
Pay: $14.00‑$18.10 per hour

Position Summary

Childcare Site Administrator (Lead Activity Leader) in Riverside, OH, is responsible for planning, developing and implementing all activities. The Site Administrator ensures the children’s social, physical, spiritual and mental development while maintaining safety and well‑being as a first priority.

Qualifications
  • At least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Assocates degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university required.
  • Must be able to obtain a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or equivalent as determined by the YMCA Childcare Branch.
  • CPR/AED, First Aid and Oxygen certification required within 60 days of employment and kept current.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children, demonstrating the ability to motivate and supervise staff.
  • Planning and program development skills are helpful.
  • 1 year minimum office administration and customer service experience required.
  • 1 year minimum supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and completion of YMCA Driver Orientation required for those performing driving duties; optional for non‑drivers.
  • Computer skills needed, particularly with Microsoft Office and email applications.
Essential Functions
  • Spend time on ratio as teacher/activity leader.
  • Assist in the planning, design, evaluation and implementation of all aspects of the child‑care programs in accordance with YMCA of the USA and YMCA of Greater Dayton guidelines.
  • Operate program within budget guidelines.
  • Responsible for all aspects of program development, quality and safety.
  • Maintain required enrollment numbers.
  • Administer program in accordance with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) guidelines.
  • Cooperate with ODJFS staff for required reports and inspections; respond to inspection requests within required time frames.
  • Complete annual inspections within the required timeframe with fire department, Department of Health, etc.
  • Maintain appropriate adult/child ratio.
  • Lead site classroom and fill in other classrooms as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary environment and meet all state and local licensing requirements.
  • Inspect equipment in the building for safety hazards, damage or wear.
  • Communicate suggestions to the supervisor to improve site operations.
  • Monitor and assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the program area.
  • Monitor, train and evaluate appropriate staff.
  • Assist director in filling staff vacancies in accordance with Association guidelines.
  • Ensure staff members maintain required trainings.
  • Hold effective staff meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records for child‑care programs, facility and staff.
  • Establish procedures for scheduling and finding substitutes.
  • Communicate to the Child Care/Program Director any concerns or incidents that may need follow‑up.
  • Build relationships with members, program participants and community partners.
  • Remain visible to participants when on duty.
  • Increase program participant awareness of healthy lifestyle factors.
  • Actively recruit, train and engage groups of volunteers.
  • Participate on program task teams and child‑care committees of the Association.
  • Attend parent events/family programs.
  • Remain familiar with National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation requirements and develop an ongoing plan and timeframe for acquisition and maintenance of NAEYC accreditation.
  • Remain familiar with National After School Association (NAA) accreditation requirements and develop an ongoing plan and timeframe for acquisition and maintenance of NAA accreditation.
  • Maintain appropriate records for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and supervise completion of paperwork.
  • Maintain records and reports for all grant programs.
  • Promote programs through development and distribution of marketing materials in compliance with Association standards.
  • Possess the ability and safe driving record to drive a vehicle, transport up to 14 children and travel between locations for work‑related purposes as needed.
  • Required to work summer months/Day Camp.
  • Protect confidential information regarding program participants, families and staff members.
