Summary

The Press Operator is responsible for the setup, efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Komori sheet‑fed press, ensuring high‑quality, high‑volume, and on‑time production while supervising and supporting the feeder.

Schedule

2nd shift, Monday – Friday, eight or more hours per day, five days per week based on business needs. Primary schedule will be 02:00 PM – 10:00 PM, or similar. Training may occur at other times.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Set up, configure, and operate the sheet‑fed press to produce high‑quality print products
  • Access the batching system to view press schedule and identify priority jobs to be completed
  • Examine job orders to determine the quantity to be printed, stock specifications, color(s) and special printing instructions
  • Lead and direct assistant operator, including on‑the‑job training and mentoring junior colleagues
  • Ensure press crew prepares the press machine for the next job once the current job is complete
  • Monitor press cycle and performance, ensuring optimum press performance and job quantity reporting, with defect and quality checks
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the machine, making basic repairs as needed according to schedule
  • Actively remove waste items for recycling
  • Complete and process all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
  • Regularly perform general housekeeping duties in the work area(s)
  • Adhere to all safety policies and protocols and maintain a safe working environment
  • Assist in cultivating an interdependent safety culture by reporting workplace hazards, injuries, illnesses, or near misses to management immediately
  • Attend all department/company meetings
  • Wear all assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) when required
  • Other duties as assigned
Experience And Qualifications
  • Three (3) – five (5) years of experience as a Komori sheet‑fed press operator
  • Proven mechanical aptitude and experience performing sheet‑fed press maintenance and minor repairs
Critical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements
  • Problem‑solving and adaptability:
    Strong skills when faced with unexpected challenges such as machine malfunctions, material shortages, or print quality errors; ability to adapt to new technologies or changes in production schedules
  • Time management & efficiency:
    Ability to manage multiple print jobs simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met without sacrificing quality; organizing workflows and optimizing print runs
  • Attention to detail:
    Precise monitoring of print jobs to ensure all details, such as color accuracy, image sharpness, and placement, meet required standards; detecting small defects or inconsistencies and taking corrective action immediately
  • Communication skills:
    Ability to read and understand corporate policies, job‑related documents, and written/verbal instructions in English to ensure effective and compliant job performance
  • Foundational math skills:
    Ability to perform basic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Highly detail‑oriented, organized, and efficient in managing time, with a proven ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks accurately
Physical Demands
  • Job requires constant or frequent standing, walking, squatting, stopping, crouching, and reaching
  • May require some kneeling and use of feet to operate machinery
  • Frequent use of hands/fingers to operate machine and/or handle and grasp product
  • Frequent lifting or moving product weighing up to 50 pounds at, below, or above shoulder level
  • Vision requirements:
    Close vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and ability to see differences between colors, shades, and brightness
