SummaryForesty Ave Elementary School seeks a Long Term Sub Grade 1 teacher effective early September 2026 through approximately mid December 2026. This position provides direct instruction to First Grade students in alignment with Hudson Public Schools’ commitment to high expectations for student achievement, equal access to rigorous instruction, academic proficiency for all students, and closing the achievement gap among student subgroups.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Introduce children to mathematics, language, science, and social studies using games, music, artwork, films, books, computers, and other tools to teach basic skills.
- Teach letter recognition, phonics, numbers, and awareness of nature and science.
- Research and create instruction that supports the development of the cognitive, emotional, social, and physical growth of the child.
- Maintain communication that supports an understanding of the school's program, develops positive relationships with the school community, and protects the privacy and confidentiality of each student and family.
- Participate in Parent/Teacher/Student conferences each trimester and communicate regularly with families about academic, social, and developmental issues.
- Build and maintain a strong school culture centered on achievement by utilizing curricula that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
- Implement common academic and behavioral procedures to ensure a structured, respectful, and achievement-oriented school and create a safe and nurturing learning environment.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Massachusetts DESE license preferred.
- Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI) and fingerprints.
- 6.5 hours per day.

Full‑Time. - Eligible for benefits and insurance after 90 days.
Unlicensed Long Term Sub: $23.85 per hour. Licensed Long Term Sub: $46.08 to $61.94 per hour depending on experience and degrees.
SalaryA daily salary range of $168 to $410.66 per day.
