Job DescriptionHudson Public Schools is seeking a Secondary Coordinator of Special Education Evaluation and Services. The position is accountable for ensuring compliance standards are met for state and federal regulations that govern the rights of a student with a disability, to ensure Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). Responsibilities include scheduling and facilitating TEAM meetings to review and present comprehensive assessments necessary to determine eligibility, which impacts the development of the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
By overseeing the TEAM meeting process, the Coordinator ensures that a student with a disability has access and receives specialized instruction services in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).
- Demonstrate a keen understanding and implementation of IDEA, federal and state regulations that govern the rights of students with disabilities.
- Analyze student needs or caseload for anticipated service needs.
- Work directly with school-based evaluation and/or educational TEAM to ensure eligible students receive specialized instruction in the LRE.
- Consult with school-based MTSS Teams regarding student needs and planning.
- Maintain and monitor timelines throughout the IEP process to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Guide IEP TEAMs in determining eligibility for special education services by identifying required specialized services.
- Ensure students with disabilities have access to the general education core curriculum.
- Assist with Special Education Indicators and Coordinated Program Review Indicators.
- Review student records to meet compliance standards through the DESE Coordinated Program Review process.
- Assist schools in analyzing data to determine measurable goals and meaningful objectives for the student’s IEP.
- Coordinate and facilitate IEP meetings that promote parent engagement and understanding of the eligibility process.
- Coordinate and facilitate student data meetings.
- Communicate with parents, school staff, and community agencies to provide technical assistance regarding the IEP TEAM process.
- Collaborate and share knowledge of district resources with other TEAM members.
- Develop and oversee the coordination of the IEP process, including writing and entering documentation into the IEP Management System.
- Review IEPs for accuracy and sign off when finalized.
- Work with direct service providers during the IEP process, sharing recommendations and completing assessments.
- Oversee special education iPad testing platform, evaluation forms, and related needs.
- Provide professional development training and technical support to district personnel on the IEP TEAM process and best practices.

- Provide and coordinate students who require ESY services.
- Plan and attend meetings with the Director of Student Services, and serve on staff committees as appropriate.
- Perform other tasks and assume responsibilities as designated by the Superintendent or designee.
- Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI) and fingerprints.
- License as a Special Education Teacher or Related Service Provider.
- Master’s Degree.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Critical thinking and exceptional organizational skills; ability to multitask.
- Strong computer literacy skills.
- Advanced educational preparation in special education leadership.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing special education and the TEAM evaluation process.
- Knowledge of district programs and service delivery options, including alternative, career, and vocational technical programs.
- Teaching or administrative experience supporting students with disabilities and inclusion service delivery models.
- SEI endorsement.
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Hudson School Committee’s policy or union contract.
