Position: Permanent Building Substitute
Reports To: Building Principal

Summary: A Permanent Building Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing instruction, classroom management, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Substitutes are expected to fulfill all assignments in any school/subject/grade level.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Reports to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival for daily assignment.
- Reviews with the principal all plans and schedules for the teaching day.
- Consults with the principal and/or staff to resolve questions and concerns.
- Maintains established routines and procedures of the assigned school and classroom.
- Develops and maintains a positive learning environment.
- Works cooperatively with staff.
- Respects student privacy by maintaining confidentiality of privileged information.
- Teaches lessons as outlined by the absent teacher.
- Consults with the building principal before initiating any teaching or other procedures.
- Oversees student behavior during class, lunch, and recess.
- Follows all policies, rules, and procedures applicable to regular teachers.
- Performs any other tasks assigned by the Principal or designee.
Required:
- High School Diploma
- Availability to work Monday‑Friday school hours (6.5 hours)
- Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI) and fingerprints
Preferred:
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree
- Teaching experience
- At least two (2) years relevant experience
- 10 months; 180 work days, 3 personal days, 12 sick days (prorated pursuant to hire date); 6.5 hours/day.
- This is a salaried position distributed over 26 paychecks, including a lump sum in June to cover summer pay.

may require standing, walking, using hands, operating computer/office equipment. Must be able to lift/push/pull 15‑20 lbs, walk up/down stairs, communicate effectively with students, staff, and the public.
