SUMMARY:

On-call day to day subs are needed to replace the regularly appointed teacher in his/her absence for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) night classes through the Hudson Adult Learning Center at Hudson High School. The substitute teacher is responsible for carrying out the lesson plans of the regularly appointed teacher for whom he/she is substituting. In-person preferred but the ability to teach remotely through Zoom may also be required.

Classes hours are from 6:30 – 9:00 PM (report to site at 5:45), on Mondays and WednesdaysORTuesdays and Thursdays. Classes are offered from September to June.

DESE/ACLS Grant-Funded Teacher Pay Rate:$37.00 per hour of instruction plus paid prep time if applicable

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adhere to the curriculum and lesson plans assigned by the regular teacher
  • Assign homework according to the teacher’s lesson plans
  • Comply with all school regulations and policies at all times
  • Take attendance and document daily notes
  • Ensure classroom and work is kept clean and orderly
  • Uphold an orderly classroom environment and provide a positive learning experience
  • Conduct instruction remotely via Zoom, if needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Experience with English Language Learners (ELLs) required
  • Associates/Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • DESE licensure or TESOL preferred
  • Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), and fingerprints

While performing duties of this job, the employee may often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee will have also have ample periods of standing and may be required to traverse throughout the building. The employee must frequently use hands and frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., calculator, copy machine, and computer printer).
