Position: Mechanical Engineer / Composite Ground Base Support

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to be an integral part of our Engineering team onsite in Hudson, Massachusetts. They will work primarily with Mechanical Design, Ground Base Radome, and Composite Engineering support.

CPI Radant is the radome‑and‑composite‐structures division of Communications & Power Industries LLC (CPI). Formerly known as CPI Radant Technologies Division, the company serves the aerospace, defense, naval, and commercial industries by designing, manufacturing, testing, and supporting advanced composite radomes, reflectors, and structural composite products.

What We Do:

Radomes are special “domes” made of composite materials that protect antennas and radar systems from the environment while allowing electromagnetic signals to pass. CPI Radant produces these for critical applications, meaning:

  • They enable secure communications and radar/electronic‑warfare capabilities for military and commercial aerospace platforms.
  • Their manufacturing includes large apertures and high‑frequency performance.
  • Their advances in composite manufacturing and large structures feed into modern aircraft, satellites, naval vessels, etc.
Job Responsibilities
  • Design tooling, support documentation for new product, and support accessory department for ground‑based Radomes.
  • Drive CAD modeling and hands‑on production floor work to solve real‑world challenges.
  • Support documentation and MRB/ECO processes; provide standard drawings and guidelines.
  • Follow direction from Engineer or Mechanical Designer on documentation for modeled parts.
  • Perform dimensioning and tolerancing, and create note structures on drawings. Technical drawings include Bill of Materials, Specifications, Detail Drawings, Assembly Drawings, Tooling Drawings, and Assembly instructions.
  • Take dimensions on test panels, parts, and tooling on the production floor as needed.
  • Have experience in CREO and Solid Works.
  • Annual Salary: $80,000 – $95,000.
  • Laser Tracker experience is a plus.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience in manufacturing, material, or aerospace engineering.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with tooling concepts, material testing, reading and interpreting drawings, and CAD.
  • Experience with rough sketches, plans, engineering instructions, and technical manuals.
Minimally Required Skills
  • Proficient with MS Office tools.
  • Knowledge of standard test equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of standard operating procedures.

The position requires potential access to technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The successful candidate must be a “U.S. Person” as defined under ITAR and EAR, meaning: (i) a citizen or national of the United States; or (ii) a lawful permanent resident of the United States; or (iii) a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
