Senior Cost Accountant

Vaco by Highspring has partnered with a rapidly growing, technology-driven manufacturing company that is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to support and enhance its cost accounting function.

• Maintain and enhance standard cost systems, including bills of material, routings, labor, and overhead rates
• Analyze manufacturing variances (material, labor, overhead) and provide actionable insights to operations and finance leadership
• Support monthly close activities related to inventory, cost of goods sold, and manufacturing accruals
• Prepare inventory reconciliations, reserves, and obsolescence analysis
• Partner with manufacturing and operations teams to improve cost visibility, efficiency, and profitability
• Support annual standard cost roll and periodic re-costing initiatives
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting for manufacturing costs and capital expenditures
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls related to cost accounting and inventory
• Support internal and external audits, including documentation and walkthroughs
• Participate in ERP system enhancements and continuous process improvement initiatives

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment (medical device, aerospace, precision manufacturing, or similar preferred)
• Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, and variance analysis
• Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Net Suite, or similar)
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with data analysis tools a plus
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environmen
