About The JobThe AIRS team is seeking a Senior Embedded Engineer to design new product lines. In this role, you will work closely with an interdisciplinary technical team to define, complete the design and analysis, build prototypes leading to ground and flight testing, and mature the prototypes into products.
What You’ll Do- Lead FPGA architecture, standards, development and review processes.
- Design, architect, simulate, and integrate VHDL designs into FPGAs or SoCs for optimized performance and power efficiency.
- Collaborate with electrical, software, and systems engineers to integrate firmware with overall systems, including processor bring‑up and board support packages.
- Develop robust test benches in VHDL/Verilog and use lab tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers to validate designs against functional specifications.
- Optimize hardware acceleration algorithms, including MIPS optimization and efficient use of on‑chip bus protocols like AXI or AXI‑Stream.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience developing HDL firmware for FPGA devices.
- Expertise in VHDL and/or Verilog/System Verilog for RTL design.
- Experience with Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, or similar FPGA design tools.
- Strong hardware/software debugging skills using laboratory equipment.
- Proficiency with version control systems such as Git.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Experience designing with multi‑gigabit SERDES, DDR memory buses, Ethernet MAC and PHY interfaces, FPGAs, and common communication buses like SPI and I2C.
- Embedded software development experience with timers, interrupts, and hardware peripherals such as SPI controllers and ADCs.
- Knowledge of embedded Linux, device trees, hardware drivers, bootloaders, and Unix/Linux tools.
- Familiarity with Python and MATLAB.
- Familiarity with infrared image sensor technology.
