Manufacturing Engineer – Defense & Aerospace
Location:

Pay: $50–$60/hour

Position Overview
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the development, optimization, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for complex defense and aerospace products. This position plays a critical role in driving production efficiency, improving product quality, and ensuring manufacturing readiness in a highly regulated environment.
The ideal candidate brings experience in electronic assembly manufacturing, process development, and production support. This individual will collaborate closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to deliver innovative manufacturing solutions while supporting new product introductions and ongoing production programs.
What You'll Do
Manufacturing Process Development
- Develop and implement manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
- Create and maintain manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and process documentation.
- Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) initiatives throughout product development.
- Evaluate manufacturing readiness and support new product introductions.
- Drive improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
Electronic Assembly Manufacturing
- Support and optimize electronic assembly manufacturing operations.
- Develop repeatable manufacturing methods that ensure product quality and consistency.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions.
- Partner with Production and Quality teams to improve assembly performance and throughput.
Process Engineering & Documentation
- Develop and maintain detailed manufacturing work instructions.
- Create and update Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs).
- Develop manufacturing routings, process flows, and production documentation.
- Support Manufacturing Execution System (MES) implementation and maintenance.
- Ensure documentation remains accurate and aligned with engineering changes.
Production Optimization
- Analyze production processes to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
- Reduce cycle times, increase throughput, and improve overall process efficiency.
- Support tooling improvements, equipment selection, and process validation activities.
- Utilize manufacturing data to drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives.
- Drive projects focused on:
- Waste reduction
- Cost savings
- Productivity improvements
- Quality enhancement
- Process standardization
- Utilize root cause analysis and structured problem-solving techniques.
Quality & Compliance
- Partner with Quality Engineering to establish inspection methods and quality controls.
- Investigate manufacturing defects and implement preventive actions.
- Support process validation and engineering change activities.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements and industry standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Design Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations teams.
- Support supplier-related manufacturing activities and process improvements.
- Present manufacturing recommendations, project updates, and improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate manufacturing activities to meet production schedules and program milestones.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in:
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Related engineering discipline
Experience
- Manufacturing Engineering experience within a production environment.
- Experience supporting electronic assembly manufacturing operations.
- Background developing manufacturing processes and supporting production activities.
- Experience creating manufacturing documentation and standardized work instructions.
Technical Skills
- Experience with PFMEA development and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing work instructions and process documentation.
- Experience creating manufacturing routings and process flows.
- Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Understanding of CNC machining, assembly operations, manufacturing testing, and production support.
