SUMMARY OF

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a member of the nursing team, the RN Floor Nurse is responsible for the provision of quality resident care during their shift. They also supervise, discipline and manage all state approved Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) during their shift to ensure the continuity and quality of resident care.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

EXPERIENCE:

Long Term Care, Skilled Nursing, or Geriatric care (preferred)

KNOWLEDGE AND

SKILLS:

  • Active Licensure for Registered Nursing in the State of Ohio
  • BLS Certified (CPR/First Aid)
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate resident care effectively.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and clinical decision‑making skills.
  • Proficiency in medication administration, treatments, and infection control practices.
PRINCIPAL JOB

ACCOUNTABILITIES :
  • Address resident, family and staff concerns/questions.
  • Relays pertinent information to RN Supervisor.
  • Serves as first‑line supervisor to Certified Nursing Assistants.
  • Prepares assignments, communicates resident needs and monitors nursing assistant performance.
  • Completes charting for resident illness or unusual occurrence.
  • Effectively communicates information to residents’ responsible parties, physicians, and team members.
  • Organizes and implements the day‑to‑day operations of resident care in accordance with Federal, State, and facility standards and regulations. This includes following all infection prevention guidelines and ensures staff and residents do as well.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate resident records.
  • Assures delivery of medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and monitors and reports progress.
  • Monitors the wireless nurse call system and staff responses to ensure prompt and high‑quality services.
  • Accepts responsibility to oversee and discipline staff as is appropriate.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide appropriate nursing interventions.
