Permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) / Highway Technician 1 (HT1)
District 4 – Summit County.
LocationDistrict 4 Garage – 6155 Chittenden Road, Hudson, OH 44236.
Schedule & CompensationFull‑time; 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. All‑hour pay: $20.85 per hour (HMW1) / $21.64 per hour (HT1).
Responsibilities- Serve the public and improve road safety in Ohio.
- Attend training and obtain or renew a Class B Commercial Driver’s License, including tanker endorsement if not already licensed.
- Perform highway maintenance activities: flagging, pothole patching, repair of guardrails, litter pickup, mowing.
- Conduct snow and ice operations.
- Excellent work/life balance.

- Highway Maintenance Worker 1: Formal education in arithmetic (addition & subtraction) and proficient in reading, writing, and speaking common English. Must obtain a Class B CDL with tanker endorsement without air‑brake restriction.
- Highway Technician 1: Formal education in arithmetic (addition & subtraction, decimals, percentages, fractions) and proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking common English. Requires three months of training or three months of experience operating basic equipment and a valid Class B CDL with tanker endorsement without air‑brake restriction.
- Position is overtime eligible under FLSA standards.
- All new hires to the bargaining unit must serve a one‑year probationary period.
- Funding will be governed by the OCSEA/AFSCME contract.
- Applicants will undergo a criminal background check and urinalysis for illegal drug use before appointment.
- Applicants must register with the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
