In-House Accountant
Willow River Company is a rapidly growing landscaping and green-industry business based in Hudson, Wisconsin. We pride ourselves on operational excellence, high-end craftsmanship, and building a stellar team. As we continue to expand our commercial and residential operations, we are looking for a sharp, detail-oriented In-House Accountant to take ownership of our daily financial workflows, job costing, and reporting.
We are looking for someone who understands more than just debits and credits—someone who can connect the numbers to real-world field operations, equipment utilization, and labor margins. Working closely with company leadership, you will manage day-to-day accounting functions, streamline financial tracking, and provide clear insights to help drive strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities- General Ledger & Daily Accounting:
Manage accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), bank reconciliations, and credit card postings with high accuracy. - Job Costing & Project Tracking:
Track actual labor, material, and equipment costs against project estimates to ensure healthy margins across our service and installation lines. - Month-End Close:
Perform month-end reconciliations, manage accruals, and assist in preparing accurate monthly financial statements. - Payroll & Compliance:
Oversee payroll processing, track multi-employee time and allocations, and ensure compliance with state and local tax regulations. - Reporting & Analysis:
Generate financial reports and cash-flow trackers to provide leadership with actionable data for weekly operational and strategic decisions. - Process Improvement:
Help optimize internal financial controls, software integrations (such as Quick Books and industry platforms), and administrative workflows as the business scales.
- Experience:
2+ years of professional accounting, bookkeeping, or project cost accounting experience. (Background or strong familiarity with the construction, landscaping, or service trades is a huge plus). - Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in Quick Books and modern accounting platforms; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. - Mindset:
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive. You enjoy solving problems, catching discrepancies before they become issues, and working in a fast-paced environment. - Communication:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with field crews, management, vendors, and clients.
