ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We’re seeking a skilled and detail-driven Construction Designer 3 to join our design team and lead the development of advanced electrical models and documentation that support prefabrication and construction success. In this role, you’ll take ownership of complex scopes, drive layout decisions, and ensure accuracy and buildability across all phases of the design process using tools like Revit.
This role is ideal for an experienced designer who can work independently, mentor junior team members, and confidently contribute to coordination efforts with field and manufacturing teams. You’ll apply deep knowledge of constructability, modeling standards, and project documentation to deliver designs that improve field efficiency, quality, and consistency - playing a key role in the continued growth and innovation of our VDC team.

- VDC Development & Coordination:
- Create, manage, and refine 3D models for electrical systems using relevant industry software
- Collaborate with other disciplines and industry trades to ensure seamless model integration.
- Maintain project models in accordance with execution plans and project-specific standards.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve clashes between electrical and other systems using clash detection tools like Navisworks.
- Design Support & Documentation:
- Prepare technical drawings and ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Generate schedules and Bill of Materials (BOM) from models to support procurement and construction teams.
- Project Management & Coordination:
- Lead BIM coordination meetings and communicate with both internal and external project stakeholders.
- Assist in planning, organizing, and executing BIM workflows for medium to large projects.
- Manage deadlines and deliverables, ensuring timely submission of accurate models and documentation.
- Support the creation and enforcement of BIM standards and best practices across projects.
- Software & Process Optimization:
- Identify opportunities to improve modeling workflows and implement new tools or processes.
- Train and provide technical guidance to Interns, Designer 1’s, Construction Designer 2’s, and Designer 2’s.
$90,000 - $115,000 + discretionary bonus + employee ownership + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate’s degree (or equivalent coursework) in electrical construction, design, or related field preferred. - 5+ years of experience in BIM coordination or electrical design within the construction industry.
- Experience working on medium to large-scale projects involving complex electrical systems.
- Direct experience using Revit for electrical modeling; familiarity with Inventor, Navisworks, Revizto, and BIM 360 is a plus.
