The RT/NDE Technician Level II is responsible for performing radiographic and other nondestructive testing (NDT) inspections, including setup, calibration, execution, and evaluation of test results in accordance with company procedures, client specifications, and applicable industry codes. This role ensures accurate data collection, compliance with safety standards, and high-quality service delivery while supporting field operations and mentoring junior technicians.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED)
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate NDT equipment for RT and other applicable methods
  • Perform nondestructive testing to detect discontinuities and ensure quality in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications
  • Interpret and evaluate test results (including radiographs and digital outputs) for acceptance or rejection determinations
  • Establish proper inspection techniques while ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, including radiation safety
  • Accurately document, organize, and report inspection results using required systems and formats
  • Maintain and verify calibration of equipment and ensure proper functionality
  • Perform specialized inspections and support complex testing activities as required
  • Provide guidance, training, and oversight to Level I technicians and assistants
  • Coordinate with supervisors, clients, and field personnel regarding job scope, execution, and findings
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, client requirements, and regulatory standards (API, ASME, ASNT, etc.)
  • Identify and report safety hazards, quality concerns, and deviations from procedures
  • Maintain professionalism, integrity, and a strong commitment to safety and service quality
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • Current NDT Level II certification in Radiographic Testing (RT) required (including OJT and state card where applicable)
    • Current NDT Level II certification in MT and UTT
    • Strong technical knowledge of NDT methods, procedures, and equipment
    • Demonstrated ability to interpret inspection results in accordance with applicable codes and standards
    • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications and credentials (e.g., TWIC, DISA, site-specific safety councils)
    • Must successfully pass all required drug screenings, background checks, and qualification testing
    • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively report findings to clients and internal teams
    • High attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
    • Mechanical aptitude and ability to adapt to changing schedules and environments
    • Dependable with a strong work ethic and safety-first mindset
    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Internal - Limited office work for reporting and administrative duties

    External
    -
    • Primarily field-based in industrial, pipeline, plant, or construction environments
    • Exposure to extreme weather conditions, high noise levels, and industrial hazards
    • May work at multiple job sites within a single day
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    • Ability to lift and carry objects in excess of 50 pounds
    • Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods throughout shifts
    • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and scaffolding exceeding 100 feet
    • Ability to climb structures up to 250 feet using proper fall protection equipment
    • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in hazardous environments
    • Ability to step into vehicles and onto equipment safely
    • Ability to work in extreme heat, cold, and changing environmental conditions
    • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including fall protection and radiation monitoring devices
    • Sufficient vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to safely perform inspections (with or without reasonable accommodation)
