Camp Property Manager II (Project Management)

Camp St. Croix in Hudson, WI is seeking a Camp Property Manager II. Located on 400 acres, Camp St. Croix has approximately 50 buildings.

This role manages maintenance and custodial staff, oversees facility & grounds operations related to vehicles, equipment, and buildings to ensure they meet regulatory requirements and standards, and frequently works with outside contractors on projects as needed. The manager also performs hands‑on tasks such as carpentry, plumbing, and groundskeeping as required.

As a member of the camp leadership team, the Camp Property Manager II reports to the Executive Director to support strategic planning, budget management, and work alongside staff leaders for the following programs:
Overnight Camp, Day Camp, Educational Farm, Little Seeds Nature Preschool, Fall/Winter/Spring Programs (retreats, school groups, weddings, etc.), and Offsite Day Camp Support (seasonal setup and takedown of Day Camp Heritage & Spring Lake).

The position offers a starting salary rate of $65,000 with excellent benefits, a free Y family membership, and program discounts. Salary may vary based on the candidate’s background, experience, and knowledge.

Anticipated start date:
March 30, 2026, with flexibility to accommodate the selected candidate’s availability.

Essential Functions
  • Supervise Camp Caretaker and facility teams at assigned locations.
  • Work with the District Camp Property Manager to organize and carry out priorities for each facility assigned.
  • Oversee facility operations for all assigned locations, including custodial and maintenance functions.
  • Supervise the maintenance of all owned and rented vehicles and watercraft.
  • Ensure annual permits and licenses for vehicles and equipment are maintained.
  • Manage workload of maintenance and custodial staff to ensure quality operation of the facility and land.
  • Maintain waterfront equipment such as docks, aquatic platforms, and beach areas.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to protect and prolong property and facility assets.
  • Develop and manage annual plans, priorities, and budgets for facility operation and maintenance.
  • Plan short‑ and long‑range building and property needs, execute maintenance tasks, and implement building safety programs.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and/or District Property Manager to prioritize facility planning needs, secure contractor bids, and manage projects.
  • Perform hands‑on facility maintenance tasks (carpentry, plumbing, electrical) and determine when professional help is required.
  • Supervise camp program staff on property projects as needed.
  • Manage the condition and repair of camp program equipment, including installation, takedown, and storage of seasonal equipment.
  • Establish annual goals and manage budget.
  • Participate in the Camp Leadership Team to set organizational direction and priorities.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise Camp Caretakers, Maintenance staff, and other facility team members.
  • Assist with staff input to the Community Board, alumni, and volunteer development when possible.
  • Organize and manage volunteer involvement in facility projects.
  • Serve as staff to the Building and Property Committee as needed.
  • Manage all billing and invoices related to property and facilities.
  • Evaluate and manage risk concerning properties, vehicles, and buildings.
  • Assist in and perform community jobs (e.g., dishes, cleaning, general maintenance) as needed.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Strong facility maintenance skills.
  • Previous budget responsibility and knowledge of budget management.
  • Experience supervising or managing staff.
  • Experience with short‑ and long‑term strategic planning and project management.
  • Knowledge of working with contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Ability to assess problems and recommend efficient solutions.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; willingness to work closely with others and accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
  • Ability to operate camp maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to manage state inspections, licensing requirements, OSHA expectations, and ACA requirements.
