Job Description Summary
The General Manager will lead the ongoing operations and performance of Baer’s manufacturing facility in Hudson, WI, ensuring alignment with the company’s core values and strategic objectives. This role is accountable for the full business performance of the location, including financial results, commercial growth, operational execution, and team leadership. Reporting to the Vice President of Manufacturing – Baer, the General Manager oversees the Business Development, Operations, Lean/Engineering, and Project Delivery teams with a span of control of 140+ direct and indirect reports.
The GM owns full P&L responsibility while driving continuous improvement, strengthening market position, and developing a high‑performing leadership team.

- Deploy and sustain Toyota Production System (TPS) principles to eliminate waste and improve throughput.
- Maintain safety and quality standards, building a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with all relevant quality standards.
- Monitor facility performance through KPIs for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
- Drive process discipline and documentation to support operational consistency, scalability, and ISO‑9001 readiness.
- Maintain full P&L responsibility for a $100M+ operation.
- Drive profitability by protecting margins, applying pricing discipline, controlling costs, and ensuring financial accountability.
- Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting with accuracy and ownership.
- Make data‑driven decisions that optimize revenue, margins, and long‑term business performance.
- Lead the operation to achieve key financial targets.
- Lead customer acquisition and market expansion to grow revenue and strengthen Baer’s market position.
- Support and contribute to business development efforts to build the pipeline, win new customers, and expand existing relationships.
- Identify opportunities within existing and adjacent markets for sustainable growth.
- Align local strategy with corporate objectives while maximizing the Hudson location’s performance.
- Lead and develop a high‑performing, collaborative leadership team across business development, operations, and project delivery.
- Ensure department heads are aligned to common goals, expectations, and business priorities.
- Elevate employee engagement through open communication, recognition, and development pathways.
- Build bench strength by developing future leaders and establishing clear succession pathways.
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and accountability that inspires performance and supports individual and team growth.
- Maintain strong customer relationships with distributors, engineers, and designers to ensure product quality and alignment with customer needs.
- Support sales initiatives with the business development team to deliver timely quotes, understand market needs, and grow revenue.
- Keep stakeholders informed with accurate and timely updates on financial results, operational performance, and cultural progress.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field (preferred).
- 7+ years of leadership experience running $30–100M manufacturing operations or a similar environment.
