CnC Machine Operator 2nd shift
Full Time Operatives at United Gear and Assembly, Hudson, WI, US
Salary: $22.00 to $25.00 hourly
Retention bonus: $2000

Perform machine operations on mills, lathes, grinders, hobs, and broaches.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Read process sheets, blueprints, and sketches to determine machining, dimensional specifications, setup, and operating requirements.
- Mount work pieces between centers, in chuck, or to faceplate, manually or using hoist.
- Install preset tooling in tool posts, turrets, indexing heads, and automatic-tool-change magazine according to process sheet.
- Depress buttons, toggle switches, and start machining operation.
- Observe numerical displays on control panel and compare with process sheet data to verify adjustments, feed rates, and speeds of cutting.
- Turn dials and switches to correct machine performance, applying practical knowledge of lathe operation.
- Inspect first-run piece and spot-check succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications, using micrometers and precision dial gauges.
- Study job packet and organize materials for next run to shorten changeover time.
- May set tools before positioning them in lathe, using precision gauges and instruments.
- May set up and operate another machine tool during machining cycles.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Computer literate, capable of learning and working statistical and manufacturing software applications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and other manufacturing software (preferred).
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Communication, problem solving, analytical ability, interpersonal and dexterity skills are important for successful performance.
Qualifications- Intermediate reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
- Typically acquired through high school diploma or equivalent, or a 2-year degree program.
Monday through Thursday: 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Some overtime on Fridays.
