The Community Engagement & Volunteer Coordinator serves as a key ambassador for St. Croix Valley Food Bank (SCVFB), building awareness of the organization's mission and expanding community support throughout western Wisconsin. This position is responsible for recruiting, training, scheduling, and supporting volunteers; managing the Volunteer Center and Community Engagement Room; representing SCVFB at community events and outreach activities; planning fundraising, donor engagement, and community events.
The ideal candidate is outgoing, organized, and passionate about building meaningful relationships that inspire community involvement in the fight against hunger. They are committed to connecting with volunteers, donors, and community partners and are willing to actively participate in all SCVFB events to advance our mission and strengthen community support.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS I. Volunteer Program Management (25%)- Recruit, onboard, schedule, train, and retain volunteers to support food bank operations, programs, and events in collaboration with warehouse and office staff.
- Coordinate volunteer assignments with staff to ensure appropriate coverage for food sorting, packing, special projects, and hunger-relief programs.
- Maintain volunteer records, service hours, and volunteer management databases.
- Monitor volunteer attendance and address scheduling needs.
- Recognize and steward volunteers to foster engagement and long-term retention.
- Serve as the primary contact for individuals and community groups utilizing the space.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Volunteer Center and Community Engagement Room, including scheduling, room set-up and tear-down, and supply management.
- Welcome volunteer groups, provide facility tours, share SCVFB's mission, and oversee volunteer activities.
- Ensure the room is maintained and ready for use by partners, staff, donors, and volunteers.
- Serve as an ambassador for SCVFB at community events, speaking engagements, networking opportunities, and outreach activities throughout the region.
- Build and strengthen relationships with local businesses, civic groups, schools, faith communities, and other community partners.
- Collaborate with the Development Director to identify and engage volunteers, donors, and organizations and refer prospective donors as appropriate.
- Coordinate community outreach activities, including presentations, informational displays, outreach materials, and facility tours.
- Identify opportunities to increase community awareness and engagement with SCVFB's mission.
- Coordinate community fundraising partnerships and third-party events, including restaurant promotions, workplace campaigns, and other off-site activities.
- Plan and manage fundraising events, donor recognition gatherings, volunteer appreciation activities, and community engagement events in collaboration with appropriate staff.
- Lead logistical planning and coordination for the annual Empty Bowls event and other SCVFB events.
- Support mission-focused campaigns and events throughout the year.
- Track and report event participation, fundraising outcomes, and community engagement metrics.

- Develop social media content to promote events, volunteers, hunger-relief programs, and community impact.
- Maintain and update website content as needed.
- Maintain event calendars, contact records, and related databases.
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, public relations, marketing, community health education, public health, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Experience in volunteer management, event planning, community engagement, fundraising, marketing, public relations, nonprofit administration, or a related field.
- Experience working with volunteers, community groups, and diverse stakeholders preferred.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal, public speaking, and written communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, donors, community partners, and staff.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, donor databases, and social media platforms.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for events and volunteer activities.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
