Warehouse Supervisor

Job Description

The Warehouse Supervisor oversees warehouse operations and employees to achieve safety, quality, productivity, responsiveness, and cost objectives across assigned departments. This role leads a fast-paced parts distribution environment, ensuring accurate inventory flow, effective shipping and receiving, and consistent adherence to operational standards and workplace organization.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, counsel, and support hourly employees, responding to their needs and concerns while maintaining a high-performance culture.

  • Address employee performance behaviors by recognizing and reinforcing positive contributions and correcting negative behaviors through progressive discipline when necessary.

  • Use structured problem-solving methods, including the Quality Network process and A-3 reporting format, to identify opportunities for improvement, document actions, and engage the workforce in generating solutions.

  • Apply Workplace Organization (WPO) principles to improve warehouse layouts, optimize material flow, and increase operational efficiency.

  • Perform daily Timekeeping System (TKS) updates to ensure accurate payroll processing and proper recording of employee hours.

  • Conduct daily meetings and huddles to communicate business performance, review SPQRC (Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost), and facilitate two-way communication with employees.

  • Perform and document weekly safety observation tours, ensuring adherence to safety standards and proactively addressing hazards.

  • Plan daily workloads in advance, allocate manpower to each station, and adjust resources throughout the shift to meet production and service targets.

  • Support fellow supervisors and colleagues to optimize shift performance and maintain smooth departmental operations.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable contractual requirements and enforce shop rules consistently across the team.

  • Perform daily standard operating procedure (SOP) audit checks to confirm processes are followed and quality standards are maintained.

  • Advance personal leadership and technical skills through the Individual Development Plan (IDP) process and ongoing training.

  • Keep leadership and relevant committees informed of pending activities, operational issues, and improvement initiatives.

  • Monitor production every two hours to verify performance targets are met, review employee performance reports, and take corrective actions when needed.

  • Oversee logistics, inventory control, shipping, and receiving activities to ensure accurate, timely distribution of parts to dealerships and third-party customers.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment while driving throughput and meeting team goals throughout the shift.

Essential Skills
  • Demonstrated supervision and management experience, including direct oversight of employees in a warehouse or logistics environment.

  • Strong ability to lead and motivate others, with proven experience applying progressive discipline such as verbal counseling, written warnings, and terminations.

  • Hands-on experience in logistics, warehouse management, inventory control, and shipping and receiving operations.

  • Ability to manage warehouse inventory and supply chain activities to support accurate and timely parts distribution.

  • Excellent people skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of employees, show empathy when appropriate, and still drive performance and accountability.

  • Proven multi-tasking ability to operate in a very fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities, balancing coaching, safety, cleanliness, and performance reporting.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to maintain performance when faced with operational challenges.

  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in warehouse, logistics, or a closely related operational field.

  • High school diploma combined with 1–2 years of technical or business school training.

  • Training in a skilled trades area or equivalent technical training that supports understanding of warehouse operations and equipment.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience using structured problem-solving tools such as Quality Network processes and A-3 reporting formats.

  • Familiarity with Workplace Organization (WPO) principles and continuous improvement practices.

  • Experience with timekeeping and payroll systems such as Kronos or similar platforms.

  • Comfort working with performance metrics and production boards, reviewing employee performance data, and making data-driven decisions.

  • Ability to conduct safety observations and audits and promote a strong safety culture.

  • Capability to lead daily huddles and team meetings focused on SPQRC (Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost).

  • Strong communication skills for delivering feedback, coaching employees, and facilitating two-way dialogue during shift meetings.
