Role Description Soldiers in the Michigan Army National Guard perform a variety of duties that support military readiness, community assistance, and national defense. On a day-to-day basis, Soldiers participate in scheduled training, maintain equipment, follow safety protocols, and work as part of a team to accomplish mission objectives. Responsibilities may include physical fitness activities, learning and applying technical skills related to a chosen military occupational specialty, and following orders and regulations to ensure discipline and operational effectiveness.
Soldiers also support local and state authorities during emergencies, drills, and public service events. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Holland, MI, requiring consistent attendance at training sessions, drills, and other assigned duties.
Qualifications
- Ability to meet Michigan Army National Guard enlistment standards, including age, citizenship or residency, background checks, and medical/fitness requirements.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively in diverse groups.
- Commitment to physical fitness and readiness, including willingness to participate in regular training and meet Army physical standards.
- Demonstrated reliability, integrity, and discipline, with a strong sense of responsibility and respect for military structure and regulations.
- Capacity to learn new technical and operational skills, adapt to changing environments, and use equipment and technology safely and effectively.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; interest in accessing education benefits and career training through National Guard service.
- Willingness to support state and federal missions, including emergency response and deployments as required.
