Special Education Para Professional in Hugo, MN

Exciting contract opportunity for an enthusiastic paraprofessional fluent in American Sign Language! Support a young elementary student 1:1 during Extended School Year (ESY) services and help make a difference in their educational experience.

You'll work directly with a student who has just completed kindergarten and recently received a signing paraprofessional as part of his IEP. Reliability, compassion, and a commitment to supporting communication and access to learning are essential. The role is scheduled from June 15 to July 24, with no school on June 19 or during June 29-July 3, from 9:45am to 11:45am each day at Forest View ES.

Please ensure you're comfortable with commuting to this location, as the district covers a wide area.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language is required (fluent or advanced/beginners with strong motivation to improve considered)
• Previous experience as a paraprofessional or similar support in a school setting preferred
• Genuine enthusiasm for working with elementary students and supporting diverse learning needs
• Patient, adaptable, and collaborative work style
• Able to provide an up-to-date resume for submittal

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 assistance to an elementary student throughout ESY programming
• Support the student's educational and communication needs using ASL
• Collaborate with teaching and IEP team to maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment
• Encourage the student's participation and independence
