Mechanical Assembler

This role focuses on assembling tanker trucks, full products, and sub-assemblies in a busy yet well-organized manufacturing environment. You will work with large-scale mechanical assemblies, interpret manufacturing blueprints, and ensure that all components are installed, tested, and documented accurately and safely.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install parts and sub-assemblies both before and after the painting process for tanker trucks and related products.
  • Assemble and install pumps, valves, meters, and piping systems according to specifications and schematics.
  • Assemble and install drive lines, drives, and pulleys to meet mechanical and performance requirements.
  • Perform test runs on completed equipment prior to shipment to verify proper operation and quality.
  • Read and interpret blueprint detail drawings, schematics, and dimension styles to guide assembly work.
  • Update and complete all required paperwork and documentation to reflect any changes made during assembly.
  • Operate overhead cranes, ironworkers, small band saws, drill presses, drills, cutting torches, and other shop equipment safely and efficiently as required.
  • Operate forklifts in accordance with safe operating procedures and maintain the required training certificate.
  • Use hand tools and power tools to perform mechanical assembly, repair, and adjustments on large-scale equipment.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the assembly process.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in large-scale mechanical assembly, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing blueprints, detail drawings, schematics, and dimension styles.
  • Hands-on mechanical skills, including assembly and repair of mechanical components such as drive lines, pumps, valves, meters, and piping systems.
  • Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatic systems in an assembly or repair setting.
  • Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for mechanical assembly work.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes, ironworkers, small band saws, drill presses, drills, cutting torches, and similar equipment safely.
  • Capability to operate a forklift in compliance with safe operating procedures, including holding and maintaining the appropriate training certificate.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when following instructions, updating paperwork, and verifying completed work.
  • Commitment to working safely and following established safety practices in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with large-scale assembly of tanker trucks or similar heavy equipment.
  • Experience working with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with assembly line processes and structured production workflows.
  • Ability to interpret and work from schematics as well as traditional blueprints.
  • Welding experience is helpful and considered a strong asset.
  • Comfort working with a variety of shop equipment, including ironworkers, band saws, drill presses, drills, and cutting torches.
