Position: Skilled Laborer - Long Haul Travel

Responsibilities

As a Skilled Laborer/Groundman on our Long Haul Travel Crew, you will support aerial and underground telecom construction projects nationwide. This role requires 100% travel, working on projects of varying durations. You take pride in doing the job right, working safely, and being a reliable, hands‑on member of the team.

  • Follow all safety procedures and use proper PPE to ensure the safety of yourself, your crew, and the public
  • Perform general labor duties including trenching, back filling, job site prep, and material handling
  • Assist with installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable, including fiber blowing and placement
  • Support aerial and underground construction as directed and trained
  • Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment between job sites
  • Assist with equipment and vehicle operations (trucks, trailers, and construction equipment) as directed and certified
  • Support site cleanup, basic maintenance, and overall job site organization
  • Assist with troubleshooting and basic repair of RF and fiber systems as needed
  • Learn to read and interpret construction prints, maps, and design schematics
  • Gain experience with telecom tools and equipment such as bucket trucks, line trucks, cable reels, and power tools
  • Work 50–60 hours per week and travel 100% of the time (except PTO and holidays)
Qualifications

About You:

  • Hands‑on problem solver who enjoys tackling challenging tasks
  • At least 2 years of experience working outdoors, preferably in a utilities/construction environment
  • Team‑oriented and willing to get in the field alongside your crew
  • Looking for long‑term opportunities with consistent work and growth potential
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, independently and consistently
  • Interest in growing within telecom construction (fiber splicing, coax, drilling, etc.)
  • Valid and current CDL A/B Required with current DOT Med card
  • Travel Details:
    • Per Diem 7 days a week – rain or shine, while on project.
    • Schedule is roughly 4-5 weeks on, 5 days off, on a rotating schedule.
    • 50-60 hours per week, overtime applies after 40 hours per week. Work is weather dependent.

MOS Codes 12K, 12N,12V, 12W, 21E, 21J, 25P, 91C, 91L, 11B, 1100, 1120, 1316, , 0612, 2T3XX, 2E1XX, 3E2XX, 3E3XX, 9T0XX, BU, UT relate well to this position.

Compensation of $21 - $24 per hour, depending on the experience.
