Job SummaryWe are seeking a motivated Design Engineer 1 to join our manufacturing engineering team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career engineer eager to apply fundamental engineering principles to real-world manufacturing challenges. The Design Engineer will support the design, development, and improvement of products, tooling, and manufacturing processes to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the design and development of mechanical components, assemblies, and tooling for manufacturing.
- Create and revise 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software.
- Support engineering change requests (ECRs/ECOs) and maintain accurate technical documentation.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and maintenance teams to resolve design and production issues.
- Participate in design reviews, prototype builds, and validation testing.
- Analyze basic engineering data and assist with root cause analysis for manufacturing issues.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable standards, specifications, and safety requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to cost reduction, quality, and manufacturability (DFM/DFA).
- Occasional travel may be required to provide on-site product installation support.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of engineering experience (internships or co‑op experience preferred).
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, assembly, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with CAD software such as Solid Works, AutoCAD, Inventor, or Creo.
- Familiarity with GD&T fundamentals.
- Exposure to ERP/MRP systems and engineering documentation control.
- Internship or project experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement concepts.
- Analytical and detail-oriented mindset
- Willingness to learn and accept feedback
- Ability to work both independently and in cross‑functional teams
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Manufacturing plant environment with regular interaction on the production floor.
- May require use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols.
- Primarily on-site; occasional overtime as projects require.
