We are looking for a Senior Project Estimator to join our Humble, TX office with expertise in industrial controls, instrumentation (I&E), and electrical systems to lead the development of complex project estimates from initial review through final proposal.
This role is ideal for professionals with strong experience in controls estimating, PLC/DCS systems, and industrial construction environments
, who enjoy combining technical detail with pricing strategy and execution.
- Lead end-to-end estimating efforts for industrial controls and instrumentation projects
- Perform detailed takeoffs, analysis, and estimate development
- Analyze drawings and specifications: P&IDs, loop diagrams, and electrical one-line diagrams, control panels, PLC/DCS systems, and field installation scope
- Develop material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and indirect cost estimates
- Apply senior-level judgment to scope interpretation, pricing strategy, and risk evaluation
- Collaborate with engineering and project management to ensure constructability
- Engage with vendors, subcontractors, and clients to clarify scope and gather pricing
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost‑saving solutions
- Support bid reviews and track estimated vs. actual costs for continuous improvement
- 5+ years of experience in estimating or project costing within industrial controls, automation, or I&E environments
- Strong understanding of PLC & DCS systems and Instrumentation & industrial electrical systems
- Proven ability to perform hands‑on estimating for complex projects
- Ability to independently analyze scope, identify risk, and develop accurate estimates
- Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience with Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider
, or similar control systems - Background in water/wastewater, manufacturing, or process industries
- Field experience as an electrician, controls technician, or commissioning engineer
- Familiarity with UL508A, NEC, and industry safety standards
- Work on complex, technically driven projects (not repetitive quoting)
- Collaborative environment between estimating, engineering, and operations
