Inpatient Coding Compliance Auditor

Memorial Hermann Health System seeks an Inpatient Coding Compliance Auditor to ensure accurate, compliant coding across its network of hospitals. In this role, you will perform detailed audits of inpatient medical records, validating ICD-10-CM/PCS and MS-DRG assignment, documentation quality, and adherence to federal, state, and payer guidelines. You will prepare reports, identify trends, and deliver education to coders and clinical staff.

Responsibilities

• Conduct audits of inpatient medical records to ensure accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS and MS-DRG coding
• Assess documentation quality and compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations
• Prepare detailed audit reports, identifying trends, risk areas, and opportunities for improvement
• Provide education and feedback to coders and clinical staff on coding guidelines and documentation standards
• Collaborate with compliance, revenue cycle, and clinical leadership to implement corrective actions
• Monitor changes in coding regulations and update internal policies and procedures accordingly
• Support internal and external audit responses with documentation and analysis
• Use audit tools and EHR systems to track audit outcomes and measure performance
