Job Description

Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. The role reports to the Plasma Center Manager and works under the guidance of the Center Physician for medical issues.

• Determine donor eligibility and manage informed consent, medical history, physical examination, and blood testing.
• Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation per occupational health/ER.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations of pandemic threats.

• High school diploma or recognized nursing program with state requirements.
• Licensed or certified in the state of assignment (EMT-Paramedic).
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

U.S. hourly wage range $24.32 - $33.44, depending on qualifications.
