Job Description

Quality Manager

On-Site | Humble, Texas Area

Reports to:
Plant Leadership

About the Role

A privately held manufacturing organization is seeking a Quality Manager to lead quality systems and people during a period of operational growth and department build-out.

This role is ideal for a hands-on people leader who can step into an evolving environment, establish structure, and quickly gain credibility with both salaried and hourly teams. The Quality Manager will oversee quality assurance and control activities across the plant, while building scalable processes that support consistency, compliance, and continuous improvement.

This is not an individual contributor role. Proven experience leading teams, driving accountability, and communicating across functions is critical.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and manage all plant-level quality operations, ensuring compliance with internal standards and customer requirements
  • Own and maintain the site’s ISO 9001 quality management system
, including audits, documentation, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Build, coach, and manage a growing quality team, including salaried and hourly employees (engineers, specialists, lab technicians, inspectors/auditors)
  • Establish structure and priorities within a quality department that is still being developed
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for quality issues across production and supply chain
  • Partner closely with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain to identify risks and implement sustainable quality improvements
  • Lead internal and external audits, manage non-conformances, and ensure timely resolution and documentation
  • Oversee incoming material inspection, in-process quality checks, and final product verification
  • Develop and track key quality metrics; communicate trends, risks, and recommendations to plant leadership
  • Support new product introductions and process changes by defining quality requirements, inspection methods, and validation plans
  • Promote a culture of accountability, consistency, and continuous improvement throughout the operation

Who We’re Looking For

  • Proven people leader with experience managing both salaried and hourly employees
  • Experience leading quality functions within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001
  • Demonstrated experience with root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Comfortable operating in environments where systems and processes are still being built
  • Able to “plug in” quickly, prioritize effectively, and bring structure without over-engineering
  • Strong communicator who can work cross-functionally and influence at multiple levels

Experience & Background

  • 5–8+ years of relevant quality experience within manufacturing (years are a guideline, not a hard requirement)
  • Prior experience in a leadership role is required; individual contributor profiles will not be a fit
  • Manufacturing experience involving metal, carbon, steel, or similar industrial environments is strongly preferred
  • Technical product knowledge (e.g., resin or chemical processes) can be learned — leadership capability cannot

Education

  • Education requirements are flexible
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field is a plus, but equivalent experience and certifications will be considered

Work Schedule

  • On-site role
  • Earlier start times are possible with manager flexibility to manage traffic hours

Why This Role

  • Opportunity to build and shape a quality function rather than inherit a rigid system
  • Direct impact on people, process, and performance during a critical growth phase
  • High visibility role with plant leadership
  • Ideal for a Quality Manager who enjoys ownership, autonomy, and developing teams

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary
  • Performance-based incentives
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Retirement plan with company contribution
  • Paid time off and additional employee support programs
