What a day on our utility fleet team looks like
You start your morning in a CTOS utility truck outfitted with a crane, welder, and compressor. Jobs come in from the Service Manager with context, locations, and timelines. You roll out to a customer site, open your laptop to pull up OEM manuals and diagnostic software, and dig into issues on bucket trucks, digger derricks, cranes, service trucks, and other aerial or construction equipment.
By afternoon, you’re road‑testing a repaired unit, documenting time and parts, tagging any core/warranty returns, and coordinating the next stop to reduce downtime for our customers.
Impact you’ll make Serve as the on‑site authority for troubleshooting and repair across aerial devices, construction gear, and light/heavy‑duty truck systems.
Diagnose and resolve LMI (Load Moment Indicator) and CAN bus issues; tackle electrical and hydraulic faults with confidence.
Perform inspections, troubleshooting, component replacement, and repairs on rental, customer, and company equipment—both in the field and at the service center.
Follow CTOS standards and factory/dealer procedures to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient work.
Verify quality via road tests when required and complete precise service reports, timecards, and repair orders.
Stay compliant with federal, state, and local regulations, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste.
Collaborate closely with the Service Manager and communicate clearly with customers and internal teams to keep fleets working.
Travel beyond your normal coverage area as business needs dictate; overtime is part of the job when customers need us.
About the role
Your core responsibility is field diagnostics, maintenance, and repair for chassis‑ and track‑mounted aerials, digger derricks, cranes, hi‑rail vehicles, and related utility equipment—delivered to spec and in line with dealer and factory standards.
What you’ll bring
High school diploma or GED.
5+ years of relevant experience as a shop and field technician.
Valid driver’s license (CDL Class B preferred) and the ability to travel as needed.
Own professional tool set.
Comfort using a laptop and software for diagnostics and documentation; able to meet deadlines and schedules.
Preferred strengths
Electrical systems, schematics/blueprints, hydraulics, welding.
Experience with Quick Serve, DTNA, or similar OEM diagnostic platforms.
Knowledge of DOT, ANSI, and dielectric testing.
Working conditions and physical demands
Frequent outdoor work in wet/humid weather; occasional exposure to extreme heat or cold; moderate to loud noise.
Positive, professional demeanor and reliable, punctual attendance.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs; bend, stoop, and work at heights; manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment.
