Position Summary
The Tournament Coordinator is an entry-level administrator responsible for executing assigned Texas Golf Association (TGA), Legends Junior Tour (LJT), USGA, and externally managed events. This role requires basic knowledge of the Rules of Golf and involvement in all aspects of tournament operations—from pre-event planning to on-site execution and post-event wrap-up. The position involves extensive travel (50–100 days/year), frequent weekend work, and physical activity including lifting upwards of 50 pounds.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as support staff or as Staff-in-Charge (SIC) at assigned tournaments and qualifiers.
- Manage pre-event logistics, including:
- Coordinating with host clubs and communicating event details with participants.
- Administering tournament signups and player management.
- Updating event websites and drafting media releases as needed.
- Oversee or assist with on-site tournament duties, including:
- Golf Course Setup: Marking, tee and hole locations, signage, starting and scoring logistics.
- Player Coordination: Providing rulings, enforcing pace of play, and ensuring effective communication
throughout the event. - Volunteer Management: Recruiting, training, scheduling and communicating with volunteers before and
during events.
- Support the siting process for TGA, LJT and USGA events by identifying potential venues and coordinating with
club partners. - Monitor and manage event expenses to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines.
- Contribute to special projects and perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Minimum 1 year of tournament administration experience (state, regional, or national level)
- Basic proficiency in the Rules of Golf
- Familiarity with tournament software (Golf Genius preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Team-oriented with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and members
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proactive problem-solver with strong time management skills
- Capable of handling multiple projects, delegating, and working independently
- Willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
