Job Summary

The classification of Supervisor Ramp & Passenger Services includes managing, coordinating and controlling airport activities for both Ramp Services and Passenger Service functions; monitoring the quality of work performance; directing personnel within the assigned area; overseeing staffing requirements; participating in discipline, coaching, counseling, hiring and termination of subordinates; training subordinates; ensuring compliance with company rules, standards and contractual agreements; ensuring budgetary controls and manning requirements.

This position may include responsibility for communication between Airport Board officials and individual customers. Proactively monitors the work of assigned employees to ensure customer satisfaction, safety, security, quality and employee relations meet or exceed standards. Maintains and controls all required aspects of operation in accordance with the corporate security program and TSA legislation. Ensures required company audit requirements are undertaken to ensure continuity and compliance at all times.

Reads, understands and implements the site-specific security plan and ensures staff are issued relevant company IDs and display identity badges. Administers practices in a fair and equitable manner, where all employees, customers, vendors and third parties are treated with respect. The scope of the job may vary with the size of the operation and its primary line of business.

Ramp Service Functions

Includes loading and unloading of cargo (mail, express, baggage, freight, and company material) on and off aircraft; transporting cargo between terminals and aircraft; ramp transfers of cargo where required; receiving, delivering, and physically handling freight and company material; export at the designated express docks; handling mail and baggage in the outbound baggage room; completing forms and messages related to the functions described.

Cleaning and servicing cabin interiors, including cockpit and lavatories; draining lavatories; handling, assembling, removing and installing passenger service cabin furnishings and supplies; transporting furnishings and supplies to and from aircraft. Assisting in loading, unloading and racking filled and empty drums. De-ice aircraft, clean aircraft windshields, pushout/tow aircraft and related guide man functions; connect/remove ground power and ground start units. May be required to clean exterior of aircraft with specialized cleaning fluids.

May be assigned to routine cleaning of work areas, ramps, and facilities with or without powered equipment. May be assigned to assist in monitoring facility security. May be assigned to routine automotive repair; servicing and cleaning of powered and unpowered equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform all aspects of airport operations, including ticketing transactions, baggage check-in, issuing boarding passes, and dispatching flights in a safe and timely manner.
  • May also be responsible for baggage service functions of filing loss, damage, and pilferage claims.
  • Offer efficient and professional customer service and resolve passenger problems as required.
  • Coordinate with all departments to ensure operational needs are met, including catering, fueling, and maintenance companies.
  • Act as company representative when assigned.
  • Report to work on a regular and timely basis.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, percent and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
