OCEAN IMPORT ACCOUNT REPRESENTATIVE

Responsible for managing import shipments, ensuring profitability, and maintaining client relationships. Key tasks include coordinating shipping details, billing, pricing negotiations, and accurate documentation.

What you will be doing:
  • Handle shipments and ensure profitability.
  • Establish task priorities, scheduling, and tracking work assignments.
  • Coordinate shipping details with origin agents.
  • Track and trace incoming shipments with airlines, steamship lines, and other NVOCC carriers; keep customers informed of each milestone.
  • Billing on time with zero demurrage mindset, detention, exam fees, etc.
  • Work directly with carriers to coordinate and follow up incoming shipments.
  • Negotiate pricing with ocean, agent, ground carrier, steamship, and airline partners.
  • Provide effective and accurate instructions to transportation carriers per company guidelines.
  • Convert and verify shipment weight and volume.
  • Calculate rates and price conversions; perform profit and loss analysis.
  • Maintain communication with customers, carriers, and vendors.
  • Coordinate pick‑ups and invoice files.
  • Assist customers with questions, complaints, requests, tracking, and tracing.
  • Process, arrange, and coordinate cargo bookings with customers and overseas agents.
  • Handle accounting processes accurately and timely.
  • Open files in Cargo Factor system, generating invoices for the brokerage team or outside broker.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years experience in importation of goods or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in ocean/maritime freight transportation.
  • Preferred experience with Nextgen, Kronos, Cargo Factor, G360, Poseidon, Service Now, TSA Known Shipper, and Pandora.
  • Knowledge of Government Agency requirements.
  • Knowledge of freight movement via air and/or ocean.
  • PC literate with experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access, and Excel.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Strong mathematical skills essential for accurate pricing.
