Position Summary
The Manager, Driver will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Living Spaces Driver operations. They will create work schedules and transportation routes for drivers to pick up and drop containers at assigned locations. They will manage the maintenance and repair of company vehicles to ensure that these vehicles are in safe and working order.
Position DescriptionEssential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with load planning to keep drivers under dispatch schedules that minimize delays and fully utilize driver time.
- Work closely with the safety & risk team to swiftly respond to any accident or incident.
- Route drivers for scheduled training or counseling and emphasize the importance of coaching sessions.
- Work closely with safety & risk to proactively manage all compliance-related functions.
- Ensure all compliance measurements are met, provide reporting and guidance on ways to improve (CSA Score, Accidents, Injuries, Inspections, etc.).
- Partner with the Director on the purchase of vehicles needed to expand or enhance the fleet.
- Schedule all regular maintenance on vehicles, including ordering urgent or emergency repairs as needed.
- Manage vehicle licensure and registration.
- Provide reports to management on budgeting, schedules, maintenance and fleet progress.
- Develop methods to decrease cost and improve efficiency.
- In collaboration with other managers, develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for transportation operations.
- Manage multi‑site activities, including driver performance, safety, compliance in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Monitor driver activity throughout the day to ensure deliveries are completed, productivity and safety measures are achieved, and any issues are resolved before the end of the day.
- Provide excellent leadership to a group of hardworking drivers in a fast‑paced environment.
- Build trusting relationships with drivers and maximize the productive use of their available hours of service.
- Field calls from drivers and work one‑on‑one to solve problems with creative solutions.
Education/
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or related field. Five years of experience in transportation, fleet or logistics; three years in a leadership role managing a sizable fleet operation or supply chain organization. Current knowledge of relevant equipment, regulations, policies, and strategies for local, state, and DOT compliant operations is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Computer
Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
Certificates and Licenses: Class A driver’s license.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position directly manages a team. Responsibilities include developing and executing company business strategies, providing strategic advice to direct reports, preparing and implementing comprehensive business plans, ensuring policies and legal guidelines are communicated and followed, and delegating responsibilities while motivating maximum performance.
Position Hiring RangePay is based on a combination of factors including education, relevant experience, skills, market demand, company budget, internal equity, and geographic market data. Living Spaces reserves the right to modify this page at any time.
Compensation: $66,375.00 – $88,500.00.
Overtime pay is available for eligible, non‑exempt Team Members. Reimbursement for expenses is provided as required by applicable law and company policy. Retail, Guest Services and Distribution Center Team Members may receive a team bonus based on meeting specific goals and KPIs.
