Responsibilities
- Conduct studies and analyze monetary behavior and patterns, provide explanations, forecast monetary trends, and devise techniques for analysis of records.
- Forecast manufacturing and intake of goods and services based on historical production and consumption data and general economic conditions.
- Prepare forecasts of earnings and expenditures, activity charges, and trade charges.
- Analyze factors that determine monetary growth and advise authorities on policies to increase economic activity.
- Analyze factors that determine labor force participation, employment, wages, unemployment, and other labor market outcomes.
- Study mathematical formulas and statistical methods and apply them to testing and quantifying economic theories and resolving economic issues.
- Study the nature of money, credit, and the operation of banks and other financial institutions to develop economic policies and forecasts of monetary activity.
- Monitor monetary data to evaluate the effectiveness and appropriateness of monetary and economic policies.
- Examine issues related to the monetary activity of individual organizations.
- Review monetary techniques, production costs and processes, and marketing policies to propose feasible improvements.
- Examine statistical data on the exchange of goods and services among countries.
- Forecast manufacturing and consumption of renewable resources and supply, consumption, and depletion of non-renewable resources.
- Conduct research on market conditions in local, regional, or national areas to set pricing for goods and services, evaluate market capacity and future trends, and develop business strategies.
- Monitor local and regional economic developments.
- Study regulatory approaches and provide material in support of legal actions with authorities and other parties.
- A master’s degree in economics or a related discipline such as business administration or statistics is required.
- A doctorate in economics may be required.
- Experience provides access to management positions in the field of economics.
