Position: Student Nurse Tech (SNT)

Location: Hummelstown, PA

Schedule: PRN

Compensation: $22.00 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Collect and document vital signs, height, weight, and demographic data.
  • Assist patients with bathing, oral hygiene, shaving, and hair care.
  • Manage intake & output, urinary catheter removal, finger stick blood sugars, routine urine and stool specimen collection, ostomy care, emptying drainage receptacles/tubes, and bladder scan.
  • Remove peripheral IVs as directed by RN (may not remove any IVs located in the antecubital fossa or higher).
  • Deliver meals and snacks, feed patients who are unable to feed themselves, and document oral intake including supplements.
  • Turn and position immobile patients safely, maintaining proper body alignment.
  • Answer patient call lights and perform services that add to the patient’s physical well‑being.
  • Transport patients to designated areas; assist in moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.
  • Assist in physical examinations, exercise regimens, and post‑mortem care as directed.
  • Perform skin care, apply cold soaks and compresses as directed, re‑inforce wound dressings, remove wound dressings, and apply simple, clean dressings (excluding sterile wounds or complex dressings such as NPWT, packing, medication, and multi‑step dressings).
  • Provide respiratory care: apply oxygen mask, trach mask or nasal cannula as directed by Registered Nurse.
  • Maintain cleanliness of instruments and equipment such as bedpans, urinals, bedside commodes, glucometers, scales, carts, etc., and disinfect equipment between patients.
  • Keep the patient’s room clean and orderly: make beds, replace soiled linen, straighten and disinfect bedside tables, and prepare the room for occupancy.
  • Provide age‑appropriate care to patients 13 and older.
  • Maintain unit stock levels: assist in restocking rooms, trays, and cabinets for adequacy of supplies and inventory; assist with cleaning when necessary, and demonstrate proper use and maintenance of patient scales, carts, and lift devices.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school with proof of completion of the first year/fundamentals of nursing (or equivalent). Certification as a nursing assistant may be required based on state requirements.
  • Knowledge of basic nursing techniques, procedures, and aseptic practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to follow written and verbal instructions, and to maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, physicians, and other hospital associates.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Post‑offer employment testing (POETs) are completed as part of the onboarding process and must be completed prior to an employee’s first day of work.
